New”Commish” Set for 2012 Season!
It is with great pleasure that I announce Mike Mansfield as the new volleyball “Commish” for the 2012 season. His wife, Lisa will serve as the volleyball administrator. To ensure a smooth transition, I will be working with both Mike and Lisa from spring registration through the evaluation and tryout process in August. Mike and Lisa have a daughter, Mikayla, who is currently in the 6th grade and an avid volleyball player. Mike and Lisa will do an excellent job for our program. You may still contact me for any questions you may have about volleyball between now and next season.
Wolfhound Volleyball Season Ends On High Note
The volleyball season ended on a high note Saturday, November 5th with four teams playing in tournament championships. Coach Schreiber’s 5th grade team finished as runner-up in the St. Nicholas tournament. Coach Mangette’s sixth grade team defeated St. Matthias in two sets to win the the St. Marcus tournament championship. Coach Axner’s sixth grade team defeated OLPH in two sets winning the the St. Damasus tournament championship.
For the second consecutive season, players on this year’s 8th grade varsity gold team earned their way to play in the top tournament championship match. Although the girls came up on the short end, losing in three sets to St. Pius, they played with intensity, emotion and passion ending the season as runner-up in the St. Alexander tournament. We are so proud of all our teams this season. Nice work ladies!
Division II State Champs
Congratulations to the Bishop Hartley Hawks for winning the 2011 Div. II Volleyball State Championship. This is the first catholic school in central Ohio to win a state championship in volleyball since 1982.
Thank You to Our Coaches and Volunteers
Thanks to all our coaches and program volunteers who made this volleyball season the best ever. Our success as a program would not happen if it weren’t for wonderful people like you. Your time and effort you gave this season is immensely appreciated.
No Off Season in Volleyball
There is no off season in volleyball. Several area volleyball clubs offer clinics and non-travel leagues during the winter and spring season. Be sure to check these websites for more information:
Wolfhound Shout Outs Help Purchase New Equipment
This season, $1,420.35 in new volleybll equipment was purchased for our program. Purchases included a hitting training box, 18 volleyballs, additional uniforms, 10 ball bags, a dozen court markers and floor tape. Thanks to all the parents who purchased a Wolfhound Shout Out this season. Monies raised from the shout outs helped offset the cost of this new equipment. Next season, we’ll need more volleyballs and a new ball cart. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Club Players
Good luck to all our volleyball club players who are playing on various club teams this season.
If you have exciting volleyball news to share about any of our players, please contact Jim Weirtz
